One Belt One Road

One Belt One Road

Mr. Bodin Boonvisut, Chief Executive Officer of Metro Group, together with representatives from China FAW Group, officially flagged off a convoy of HONGQI E-HS9 all-electric luxury SUVs on the historic “One Belt, One Road” expedition. The remarkable journey commenced at the Great Wall of China on 25 April, marking the beginning of a transnational route spanning more than 6,000 kilometres from the People’s Republic of China, through the Lao PDR, and into Thailand. The expedition underscores HONGQI’s commitment to innovation, sustainable mobility, and cross-border connectivity, while showcasing the capabilities of its flagship electric SUV across diverse terrains and cultures along the route.

“This journey is far more than a demonstration of electric vehicle performance. It represents the realization of a vision—one that connects two great civilizations through innovation, sustainability, and shared aspirations. It is a testament to how clean mobility, powered by advanced electric technology, can transcend borders and bring people, cultures, and nations closer together.”

Traversing some of Southeast Asia’s most scenic and culturally significant destinations, the HONGQI E-HS9 journeyed through Kunming and Xishuangbanna before crossing into Luang Prabang, Laos. The convoy then entered Thailand via Pua District in Nan Province, continuing through the historic cities of Sukhothai and Ayutthaya before culminating in Bangkok. Spanning more than 6,000 kilometres, the expedition served as a comprehensive showcase of the HONGQI E-HS9’s long-distance capability, advanced electric mobility technology, and exceptional driving comfort across diverse terrains and road conditions. More importantly, the journey reinforces confidence among Thai consumers in the practicality, reliability, and performance of premium electric vehicles for real-world travel.
